    US - Masonite files for protection  Mar 17, 2009
    Masonite International, the door and fibreboard maker, filed for bankruptcy protection yesterday as part of a plan to cut debt by almost $2 billion (R20 billion). Masonite said the reorganisation would enable it to reduce almost all its debt and cut annual cash interest costs by about $145 million. (Business Report, South Africa)

    Canadian door maker Masonite International Inc. said Tuesday it expects to file for bankruptcy protection from creditors as part of a deal with lenders to reduce the company's debt by nearly $2 billion.
