Isis Pharmaceuticals reported encouraging results yesterday with a cholesterol-lowering drug but also extended the timeline for getting it on the market. The Carlsbad company, which is developing the drug with the Massachusetts company Genzyme, said it cut cholesterol 25 percent in a study of patients with a rare genetic disorder that sends cholesterol levels sky-high.
