Hingham bank robbers 'knew what they were doing,' police say Sep 12, 2009
That happened sometime Wednesday night into Thursday morning at the Hingham Institution for Savings branch on Route 53 just north of Queen Anne s Corner. Local police and FBI agents spent much of Thursday combing the grounds of the one-story building while members of an FBI evidence response team mounted ladders to check out the roof. Police responded to a call from a Hingham Institution for Savings employee around 7:30 a.m. yesterday and found that the bank s back door had been forced open and that the safe and vault had been entered. An undetermined amount of money was taken. (Boston Globe)

Miss Beverly Rowlings, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Rowe Rowlings of Clark road, has joined the staff of the Hingham Institution for Savings for the summer months, Miss Rowlings will return to Mount Holyoke College in the fall for her senior year. Captain Bernard Freund, USN, will be doing his part to continue the long standing tradition of cooperation between Hingham and the U.S. Navy when he serves as Honorary Parade Marshal for the Fourth of July parade.
